Traditional Greek Christmas Eve dishes

The celebration of this feast lasts for as many as 12 days in Greece and begins in the same way as in the rites of the Roman Catholic Church on 25 December. Kurabiedes

Christopsomos

Christopsomo generally refers to the loaves or rolls of bread that Greek housewives make two to three days before the great religious festival of Christmas. The only difference from ordinary bread is that it is richly decorated with various fancy designs.

Melomakarono

Melomakarona are, next to kourabiedes, the second cookies traditionally prepared in Greece at Christmas time. They usually consist of flour or sometimes semolina, sugar and oil. Their sweetness is usually determined by the syrup in which they are dipped. The quality of the cookies depends on the quality of the ingredients used to prepare them. In particular, it is worth looking out for good quality honey and extra virgin olive oil.

Taramosalata

A popular Greek roe paste, often served as .It consists of salted carp or other fish, skinned dry white bread, oil, grated red onion and lemon juice. It is also sometimes prepared with taramosaláta me patáta potatoes instead of bread. All the ingredients are carefully mashed and mixed, in a specific order and proportion.
